The table, before anything happens
After the upload reads your file it shows a table. Read it in thirty seconds, so what lands in your workbook is right the first time.
Your workbook may look different. If there is no brown band of buttons along the top, use the Money Mastery menu in the menu bar above your workbook. The names are a little different there: Categorize is Categorize Transactions, Reports is Clarity AI & Reports, Dashboard is Open Dashboard, and Start Here is Getting Started.

Welcome back. After the upload reads your file, it shows you a table before anything happens. Today, how to read that table in thirty seconds, so what lands in your workbook is right the first time.
The table appears after you click Preview transactions. Each row is one transaction from your file: the date, the description, the amount, in that order.
Look at the first row and the last row. Are the dates the month you meant. If the file had two months in it, the first row shows it.
Look at the colours. Green is money in. Red is money out. Your paycheck should be green. Groceries should be red. If they are the other way round, click Flip Amounts above the table; the next video is about that.
Look for a flag on any row that says it looks like one already in your workbook. That happens when a file overlaps last month's. Click the cross at the end of that row to leave it out.
Click any cell to change it. A description you want shorter, an amount you know is wrong. Type and press Enter; the cell shows the new value.
Count the rows at the bottom of the table and compare with your bank's page. They should match.
Click Add to Sheet. Only now do the rows land in your workbook, and the Categorize list shows them with the ones that still need a label.
Look at the table, not the workbook afterwards. This is the last moment when nothing has happened yet, and fixing a row here is one click. Fixing it after it lands is three.
A cell you edit in the table is edited before it lands, so the workbook never holds the bank's clumsy version; the row arrives the way you want to read it in a report.
First date, last date, the colours, the flags, then Add. Thirty seconds. See you next time.
