Goals with names

The Savings tab: a goal gets a name, a target, a date and what you put in each month, and you watch it fill.

4 min Numbers Habits

Your workbook may look different. If there is no brown band of buttons along the top, use the Money Mastery menu in the menu bar above your workbook. The names are a little different there: Categorize is Categorize Transactions, Reports is Clarity AI & Reports, Dashboard is Open Dashboard, and Start Here is Getting Started.

Hi, and welcome. Today the Savings tab, where a goal gets a name, a number and a date, and you watch it fill.

Click the Savings tab at the bottom of your workbook..

Each row is one goal. Click the first empty name cell and type its name. Emergency fund. Press Tab.

Type the amount you are aiming for, press Tab, type the month you want it by, pr.

Type what you have in it today, press Enter..

Each month, click this month's cell on the row and type what you added. The tab shows the total, how far along you are as a percentage, and whether you are on pace for the date.

A second goal on the next row: the holiday. A third: the new laptop. Each one its own row, its own pace.

When a goal is reached, leave the row; it is a nice thing to see in December..

A goal with a name gets funded. Savings does not. Emergency fund, three months, by June, is a plan. Save more is a wish.

The on-pace column does the arithmetic you would otherwise avoid: it tells you the monthly amount that still gets you there by the date, after the months you missed.

Name it, size it, date it, and type what you put in each month. See you in the next one.
