The same month twice

What happens if you upload a file twice, and how the review table catches it before it doubles your month.

4 min Upload Checking

Your workbook may look different. If there is no brown band of buttons along the top, use the Money Mastery menu in the menu bar above your workbook. The names are a little different there: Categorize is Categorize Transactions, Reports is Clarity AI & Reports, Dashboard is Open Dashboard, and Start Here is Getting Started.

Welcome in. Today what happens if you upload a file twice, and how the system catches it before it doubles your month.

Upload a file that overlaps something already in your workbook; the second half of last month, say. Click Preview transactions.

In the table, every row that matches one already in your workbook, same date, sa.

Read each flagged row. If it is the same transaction, click the cross at the end of the row to leave it out. If it is a real second purchase, leave it in.

The count at the bottom of the table drops as you remove rows..

Click Add to Sheet. Only the rows you kept land.

If you have already added a month twice, open Categorize, type the merchant in t.

The flag is a question, not a verdict. Two coffees at the same place on the same day for the same price are not duplicates, they are two coffees. Read the flagged row before you remove it.

The flag compares the date, the description and the amount together, so a real second purchase on the same day is never flagged by mistake; only an exact repeat is.

Upload, read the flags, remove the real repeats, Add. Your month stays honest. See you next time.
