The Dashboard

One page, every number traced to its rows. Where each figure on the Dashboard tab comes from and what to do when one looks wrong.

5 min Numbers Dashboard

Your workbook may look different. If there is no brown band of buttons along the top, use the Money Mastery menu in the menu bar above your workbook. The names are a little different there: Categorize is Categorize Transactions, Reports is Clarity AI & Reports, Dashboard is Open Dashboard, and Start Here is Getting Started.

Hi, and welcome. Today the Dashboard tab, the one-page picture of your money, and where every number on it comes from.

Click the Dashboard tab at the bottom of your workbook..

Across the top, the year's big numbers. Total income. Total expenses. What is left. Each one is the sum of the labelled rows on your account tabs; nothing is typed here, and the cells are tinted to say so.

Below them, the charts. Where the money went, by group, as a ring. Income against expenses, month by month, as bars.

Further down, the tables: each group with its amount and its share of the total..

See a number that surprises you. Food looks high. Click the Monthly Overview tab, click the month box and pick the month, and Food is broken into its labels. Groceries, Dining. Now you can see which one.

Still surprised. Click the Categorize button, type Dining in the search box, and the rows are there. The dashboard was right; the rows explain why.

If a month looks empty, the upload or the labelling for that month was never finished. Click the Uncategorized tab in Categorize and it shows you what is waiting.

Every dashboard number has rows behind it. When one looks wrong, do not argue with the dashboard. Follow it back to the tab it came from and look at the rows.

The ring chart's biggest slice is the group to open first every month; three months in a row and you know your own pattern better than any budget app would.

One page, every number traced to its rows. That is the Dashboard. See you in the next one.
