One month, up close

Pick a month and every number, chart and table on the tab follows. The place to slow down and understand what one month was really doing.

5 min Numbers Monthly habit

Your workbook may look different. If there is no brown band of buttons along the top, use the Money Mastery menu in the menu bar above your workbook. The names are a little different there: Categorize is Categorize Transactions, Reports is Clarity AI & Reports, Dashboard is Open Dashboard, and Start Here is Getting Started.

Hi again. Today the Monthly Overview, the place you slow down and understand what one month was really doing.

Click the Monthly Overview tab at the bottom of your workbook..

Near the top is a box with a month in it and a small arrow. Click it and a list of months opens. Click August.

Everything on the tab changes to August. The four numbers at the top: this month's income, this month's expenses, what was left, and your payments and transfers.

The charts below follow: where the money went as a ring, income against expenses.

Scroll down to the tables. Your income by label. Your expenses by group and label, each with its amount and its share of the month.

Click the month box and choose September, then June. Compare. The one that looks very different from its neighbours is the one to open in Categorize.

Nothing on this tab is typed. If a number is wrong, the fix is on the row in Categorize, and this tab updates itself the next time you open it.

What to look for. A label that quietly spiked. A month that looks unusually high. A month that looks suspiciously empty, which usually means the upload or the labelling never got finished.

The month box is the only control on the tab, and it drives everything: pick a month, screenshot the tab, and you have a one-page report for that month without opening Reports.

When a month looks wrong, check the rows first, then trust the summary. See you soon.
